Emmanuel Hategeka

Permanent Secretary Ministry of Trade and Industry - Republic of Rwanda

Mr. Hategeka is currently the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry – Rwanda. Prior to his appointment by cabinet in February 2010, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Private Sector Federation (PSF) Rwanda since April 2006. The Private Sector Federation is a member based umbrella organization for Rwanda’s private sector established in 1999 by the business community.

Born in 1967, Emmanuel holds an MBA in Corporate Strategy and Economic Policy obtained from the Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands. Prior to that he holds a B.COM honours degree from Makerere University - Uganda with a major in finance. He obtained numerous post graduate certificates for a number of courses attended in ICT, finance, people management and marketing strategy.

Emmanuel enjoys a rich 18 years of professional experience both at a technical level as well as managerial levels working in Rwanda since the later part of 1994. He worked for Sonarwa the leading Insurance Company in Rwanda as the Research and Marketing Director for seven years. He then joined MTN Rwanda Part of the MTN Group where he spent five years heading a department as the Sales and Marketing Manager. MTN is the leading telecommunications company in Rwanda. From MTN, he joined the Private Sector Federation as CEO.

Emmanuel HATEGEKA serves on a number of boards in advisory capacity.
