Holding a certificate from the MIT Entrepreneurship Development Program and having worked for 15 years in IT and publishing, Rina Marchand has joined the Fondation de l’entrepreneurship in July 2008 first has Marketing and Communication Director then to become Senior Director, Product Development & Innovation. She has previously been Marketing & Communication Director at Nstein Technologies (2001-2008), now acquired by OpenText. Before joining Nstein, she was a founding member of Quebec’s first biggest news Web portal: BRANCHEZ-VOUS! (1995) and Sympatico (1996).
When joining the Fondation, Ms. Marchand first led the Croissance Québec Techno Program (on behalf of Quebec’s Ministry of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade). Aimed to accelerate the international growth of Quebec’s top technology companies, the Program combines training and coaching from the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship entrepreneurs’ network.
With her team, Ms. Marchand now oversees the publishing of Quebec’s annual Entrepreneurship Index, helping as well territories and industries to measure their own entrepreneurial dynamism. She also oversees training programs for Quebec’s largest mentoring network for entrepreneurs (Réseau M - 1200 volunteer mentors) led by the Fondation. Moreover, her team manages special projects such as “Entrepreneurial Communities” (pilot project for empowering local leaders to develop and promote entrepreneurship within their communities through information, coaching and tools).
