Mr Inderjit Singh, an engineer by training, had worked at Texas Instruments for 13 years before he started his entrepreneurial journey in 1997, at the age of 37. He is a true serial entrepreneur, having personally started 10 companies, of which six are successful, two still in the process of growing, and three had failed. He had built very large multi-million dollar companies, including high tech companies from scratch, such as the United Test and Assembly Centre, a large global outsource assembly and test company. His experience in building companies and investing in start-ups spans over 15 years, and he is very passionate about entrepreneurship.
Inderjit is the foremost champion of entrepreneurship in Singapore, and has been actively driving the transformation of the entrepreneurship landscape to better support start-ups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Singapore. He was involved in driving policy change in support of entrepreneurship in Singapore, especially in creating numerous financing schemes for start-ups and growth companies. Inderjit was the Deputy Chairman of the Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE), a national movement in Singapore responsible for spearheading entrepreneurship development, for seven years.
Inderjit is currently the co-President of the World Entrepreneurship Forum, a world organization dedicated to the development of entrepreneurship around the world. He is a member of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU)’s Board of Trustees and also chairs NTU's Enterprise Committee, which is tasked to oversee entrepreneurship education and enterprise development in the university. Inderjit had previously chaired the investment committee of SPRING SEEDS, a government fund which invests in early-stage start-ups.
Inderjit is the rare entrepreneur and Member of Parliament in Singapore. He has been the Member of Parliament for the Ang Mo Kio GRC since 1996, and is now serving his fourth term in office.
Inderjit loves writing, and is the author of “The Art and Science of Entrepreneurship”, a popular book capturing his entrepreneurial experiences, which was sold out. Inderjit is also an inventor with three patents to his name.
